The Pixilation Building

Omid Rouhani Architectural Design was appointed to convert an existing commercial office building near Al Barari in Dubai into a multi-family residential development. The project comprised of forty nine single and duplex apartments housed in the converted commercial building and a new proposed extension. The building design was inspired by computer pixilation. The pixilation being emphasized by a series of horizontal and vertical linier structural grids that set the frame work for further features such as: extension pods, movable vertical shading devises controlled by each tenant requirements and a series of trees and green planters on the projected balconies. The project also incorporates some commercial offices and retail units that are accessed by a new outdoor rotunda. This public space is both a shaded outdoor area around a pool of water and spiral vertical access to the commercial units.
